2022 CMS Final Rule: Increased Reimbursement and Expanded Code Set

Story by Connor Danielowski / February 25, 2022

The 2022 Medicare Final Rule went into effect on January 1, 2022, and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (“CMS”) significantly increased reimbursement for Chronic Care Management (“CCM”, CPT 99490/G0511).  If your practice or clinic has ever considered CCM, now is the time to implement this program for you and your patients.  Read more here.

In addition to the increases in reimbursement, CMS is expanding the code set for care management services. The expanded code sets and increase will give more reimbursement opportunities for providers across the board.

Below are the final reimbursement rates for 99490 and G0511:

Code 2021 Reimbursement 2022 Reimbursement
99490* $41.17 $64.02
G0511 $65.24 $79.25

*National averages are shown above.
