CCS Makes Donation to MUSC Nursing School

Story by Connor Danielowski / March 1, 2024

With a $25,000 donation to the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) College of Nursing, Chronic Care Staffing and sister company Millennia Medical Staffing are investing in the future of Nursing education!

The recently announced endowment makes possible for MUSC to purchase a new Nursing Simulation Manikin, to be used in the newly renovated and expanded MUSC College of Nursing Skills Lab.

Hands-on Nursing Experience in Realistic Settings

The lifelike Nursing Simulation Manikin is an innovative instructional tool designed specifically for nursing education. It delivers hands-on experience in patient care scenarios, offering students a realistic representation of patient conditions and reactions. The simulation manikin allows future nurses to learn from their mistakes without compromising the safety of actual patients. The availability of the manikin also reduces the need to place nursing students in traditional clinical settings, which reduces classroom time, clinical time, and costs.

Manikin Donation Enhances the Quality of Nursing Education

MUSC leadership expressed its enthusiasm about the donation and its benefit to nursing education.  Kaitlin Epperson, MUSC Sr. Associate Director of Principal Gifts states, “With this investment, Chronic Care Staffing and Millennia Medical Staffing contribute to the development of highly skilled and competent nurses who can meet the increasing demands of the healthcare industry. Your support will have a lasting impact on the quality of education we provide and the future healthcare outcomes for our community by allowing us to be more effective and efficient in our education.”

The new Nursing Simulation Manikin will soon join an older sibling in the expanded and completely renovated Nursing Skills Lab, part of a $2.5 million project launched in January of this year.
